Privacy Policy
RideCoach is designed to work on your phone, for you, without your data leaving the device. This policy describes exactly what the app does with data — which is very little.
What stays on your phone (everything, by default)
- Location. GPS is used to follow your route and time your ride. Coordinates are processed on the device and are never transmitted anywhere.
- Heart rate. Read from your Bluetooth strap for on-ride readouts and coaching. Processed on the device.
- Routes and ride logs. Imported routes and detailed ride logs are stored in the app's local documents folder. They leave the phone only if you export them yourself with the share sheet.
Optional online features (off by default)
Three features talk to the internet, each only if you switch it on and provide your own API key:
- AI wording and post-ride debrief send ride statistics — distances, times, pace versus plan, and heart-rate summaries (never GPS coordinates) — to Anthropic's Claude API to rephrase coaching lines or write a short ride analysis. Anthropic's handling of API data is described in their privacy policy.
- The voice pack sends the fixed text of a route's coaching phrases (e.g. "Climb 1 starts now") to the ElevenLabs API to generate audio, which is then cached on the device. See ElevenLabs' privacy policy.
Your API keys are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. Disable these features and the app makes no network requests at all.
What RideCoach does not do
- No accounts, sign-ups or passwords.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
- No data sold or shared with anyone beyond the optional services described above.
- No servers of our own — there is nowhere for your data to go.
Health disclaimer
RideCoach offers training commentary, not medical advice. Heart-rate cues are informational reminders based on the maximum heart rate you configure yourself.
